Obituary for Elaine Marie Carr

Elaine Marie Carr was born to Herbert and Vernice Shipman on November 18, 1957 in Tampa Florida. Elaine was the oldest of three children including Ron and Susie. As part of a US Air Force family, Elaine lived in several parts of the United States, Canada and Panama. Following her graduation from college at Southwest Texas State University she worked as a programmer/analyst in Dallas before moving to Houston to continue her career in the oil and gas industry. During that time, she met and married George Carr. Together they had two children, Douglas and Amanda. Elaine was a devoted mother and became a committed homemaker for the family. She loved her pets and especially liked walking her Golden Retrievers. Elaine was very active in the Down Syndrome Association of Houston and enjoyed coordinating the publication of the chapter’s newsletter. Elaine’s favorite pastime was gardening, which she could be found doing almost every chance she had. Elaine loved music and had a particular fondness for country music. Elaine will be remembered for being a smart, gracious lady with a lovely smile, sweet disposition and caring heart.

Elaine is survived by her children, Doug and Amanda; husband, George; siblings, Ron and Susie; and her mother, Vern.
