Jacob Henry Michel Jr

September 17, 1946 ~ May 31, 2022 (age 75)

Jake was born September 17, 1946 in Lincoln, Nebraska as the firstborn child of Jacob Henry Michel and Edith June (Routh) Michel. He was baptized into faith in Christ on October 27, 1946 by Reverend Worthmann at Trinity Lutheran Church. He was later confirmed in that faith on March 26, 1961 by Reverend Ernst also at Trinity, where Jake was a lifelong member.

Jake graduated from Lincoln High in 1964. He worked a variety of jobs around Lincoln until he enlisted with the United State Navy on June 8, 1965. Jake served his country in Vietnam from 1966-1968.

Following his service in the Navy, Jake began an apprenticeship as a printer. He worked 32 years for the Latches Printing Company. It was in 1971 that Jake was introduced to Marcia Eloge, who survives of the household. The couple was married January 15, 1972 at Grace Methodist in Lincoln. They settled in Lincoln and were blessed with two surviving children, Scott Michel and Sarah Michel.

After working at Latches, Jake found employment at Kawasaki for 5 years. He retired and enjoyed life at home with his grandchildren: Dawson, Graycen, and Rilee. His basement reflects his interest in model cars that he enjoyed showing off. He was also an avid fan of the Cornhuskers.

Jake was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Edith; sister, Rebecca; grandparents; and a still-born daughter.

Jake is survived by his wife, Marcia; two children, Scott and Sarah; brother Robert (Bev); grandchildren Dawson, Graycen, and Rilee; his “favorite” daughter-in-law Staci; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In faith in Christ, Jake was called home to eternal rest and now he, along with all the faithful before him, awaits the coming of the Lord. Jesus is the resurrection and the life!
