Writing about our sister Jo Anne is not an easy task. It means she is no longer with us.
Jo was the youngest of four daughters out of seven children. None of us were born in a hospital, just at different addresses in Lincoln.
Jo’s fist job was working in a Woolworth store where they serve soda malts and giant hot dogs. She did this after school while attending Teacher’s College High School. After graduation she went to work at Western Electric in downtown Lincoln. The company eventually moved to Omaha. Jo wanted to stay with the company so her and a couple friends moved to Omaha to continue her chosen career. She was employed for 43 years and retired at age 57.
Jo was not a world traveler, but did enjoy seeing the sights of, as she put it, “the good ole USA.”
When Jo started to collect her fury friends, at one time she had four dogs. All were well trained; she would tell us. For the most part, it was true.
Jo was a faithful member of her church in Omaha and actively participated in their annual trips to “here, there, and everywhere”, she would say.
The last years of her life were spent in Lincoln at The Legacy Terrace on Fremont Street in North Lincoln where she was known for her quick sense of humor and witty comebacks.
On February 24, 2021 Jo went home to be in the loving arms of Jesus. She was at peace knowing where her soul was going. If she were here, she would say, “Hope to see you all again”.
Heaven has room for all who believe that God the Father provided the way to Heaven by believing that Jesus his son purchased your ticket!
“God Bless You All!”
