July 1, 1937 ~ September 12, 2021 (age 84)

Obituary

Larry Dean Broers, 84, of Lincoln, passed away September 12, 2021. Born July 1, 1937, in Burr, NE to Fredrick & Lena Broers.

Larry is preceded in death by his first wife, Betty (Cooper) Broers who passed in May of 2005; Second wife, Carole L. (Call-Rowbal) Broers who passed in November of 2019; Parents; and Sister, Verna.

He is survived by his children, Lizabeth (Don) Whelan, Brenda (Billy) Haines; Jenny (Tom) Lang, Doug (Brittney) Broers; Grandchildren, Ryan, Taylor, Carleigh, Austin, Brooklyn, Elle and Luke; sister, Merna; And favorite grand-dog, Boo; Many nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.

Larry and Betty were married March 18, 1961.  They raised four children, Liz, Brenda, Jenny, and Doug.

Larry enjoyed fishing with his family and friends.  When the kids were young, it was a special treat for his children to get up while it was still dark to go fishing.  Unfortunately, poor Larry often spent most of his fishing time trying to get hooks and lines out of the trees or any other nearby obstacles. It was quite an occasion when they got to camp while fishing, that is, sleep in the car. Larry also enjoyed fishing with his nephews.

Larry was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the 1970's.

As everyone grew up, the family had many fun camping trips with friends.  The Broers’ van was modified for camping as only Larry could do it.  It was even outfitted with a kitchen cabinet! Although it had no air conditioning, it did have a fan.  You had to be careful getting too close to the fan or you might lose some strands of hair.

Larry was a hard worker who loved his family and was loved in return.  He always made sure they had a family dog. Larry always took time to play with his kids when he got home from work.  It was always a good wrestling match in the front yard, drawing the neighborhood kids to join in.

Larry really enjoyed working at the Kingdom Hall builds with his friends.

He took good care of Betty as her health declined.  Betty passed away in May 2005.  Larry married Carole in September 2006. Larry and Carole enjoyed attending Kingdom Hall Builds together.  Carole passed away in November 2019.

Larry lived at home for a year and then moved into the Legacy.   He enjoyed watching the mallard duck who raised 11 ducklings in the courtyard ponds.  He especially enjoyed visits from his grand-dog Boo.

He missed being out in service and wanted to go back to meeting at the Kingdom Hall.  He witnessed to almost everyone he talked to, including his caregivers, nurses, doctors, and fellow residents.  He offered Bible studies up to the very end.

He loved his God, Jehovah.

Jesus said ... ''I am the resurrection and the life.  The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.'" ~ John 11:25
