Robert Andrew Miles

April 22, 1951 ~ June 13, 2021 (age 70)

Robert Andrew Miles (Bob), 70, died June 13, 2021, at Tabitha Journey Hospice, Lincoln, NE, from non-alcohol cirrhosis of the liver. He is survived by his partner Cheryl Frederick and her daughter Julia, two adult daughters, an adult son, and two granddaughters, sisters Gloria and Marilyn, and half-sister Cyndi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Earle Miles and Eldora May Anderson Miles, and brother Gary.
Bob was born April 22, 1951, in Niles, MI. His family subsequently moved to Middletown OH, and Robert spent his growing up years with his parents and three siblings in OH, PA, NJ and VA.
He came to love God’s creation which developed into an interest in photography, fossils and rock collections, gardening projects and a tender bond with his dogs and other pets. Bob was an avid reader pursuing history, WWI poetry, Bible truths, biographies and health and medical topics.
Bob completed his high school education at Shenandoah Valley Academy (New Market, VA) in 1969, and went on to study at Columbia Union College (Takoma Park, MD). Bob married while in college and upon graduation in 1976 with a BSN in nursing, accepted a position at the United States Air Force Academy Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. He served for 5 years, achieving rank as captain before transferring to Walter Reed Army Medical Center, nurse corps, in Washington DC.
Eventually Bob moved to Nebraska where he connected with numerous friends who likewise shared these interests and enjoyed exploring, caving, camping, biking and music, focusing primarily brass instruments. Many witnessed his kind heart, and a generous and gentle spirit. He grew up playing games and enjoyed playing Pitch at the Northeast Aging Partners with the gang. As one who placed confidence in Biblical truth, Robert accepted the understanding of death, as stated in the Bible, that one rests in the sleep of death until the Second Coming of Christ, as stated in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17. He is no longer suffering.
